Educational Evening
I went to a friend's house for dinner, with the highlight of the evening being watching birthing videos (she's eight months pregnant). Let's just say that I learned a lot...yeesh. Glad I had some wine to wash that down with. Good luck with all that KN! :)

Gaaaahh!
So I keep reminding myself to blog here, all to no avail. Not that there's much exciting going on in my life right now...I've mainly been hibernating and waiting for spring to come, and beginning my quarter-life crisis. Much more on that later...

Legs Feel Like Water
And why do they feel like water? 30 minutes on the elliptical at almost the lowest intensity. WOW, I'm out of shape. It's sad. Also, I ate an entire package of Mint Milanos to reward myself, totally negating any effect of the "workout." Baby steps...
It sounds awful to say, but I used to be sooooo skinny. Definitely not in perfect shape, but quite thin. I started piling on the weight when I got my first desk job. The modern American workplace is not conducive to being thin. Plus, I love food and I don't like to exercise. I will if I have to, but I'm not the athletic sporty type (I duck when balls fly at my face). So it's an obligation, not a pleasure.
But I've reached a crisis point on the fat continuum. My goal is to drag myself to the gym and control the eating (let's not count tonight). The more challenging part will be the diet aspect. Like I said, I love food.
101 Cookbooks is a great source for healthy vegetarian recipes...I think I'll be using a lot of the ideas there, for flavorful, filling food that's low in calories.
I'm hoping by my birthday I will have lost 20 pounds and then another 30 by the end of the year.
And as awful as it sounds, I'm repeating Kate Moss's mantra in my head: Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. OK, off to drink some wheatgrass juice before bed!

Evening Activity
Ugh. I spent far too long this evening attempting to declog a drain. Despite lots of boiling water, baking soda and vinegar, it's only draining a little bit and now all this gross sediment is coming up. Am brushing my teeth in the kitchen sink tonight.
In other news, I randomly ran into my dad at lunch today, which prompted a co-worker to wonder why a strange man was hugging me. Also, this week at work is nutso and I cannot wait until it is over. Tomorrow is the day in which I will burn stuff onto 200 flash drives. Joy.

New Year's Resolutions
Well, 2010 started in a not-so-great way, but I have high hopes for the rest of it. So to keep me honest, here are my New Year's resolutions...soon to be broken, no doubt, but I live in hope:
- Lose 50 pounds (And how many times have I been to the gym this year? Oh that's right, a big fat ZERO.)
- Not leave dirty dishes in the sink
- Keep my apartment spotless enough that surprise guests don't unnerve me
- Be more positive, and not such a negative worrywart
- Not be so neurotic
- Have fun in a dignified manner
- Get more calcium...bone loss is no joke y'all, and I'm getting old...

Bubble Yum
Bubble vodka by Three Olives: deceptively delicious. Watch yourself, because as my friend says, "Vodka is a tricky mistress." And when it is bubblegum vodka, she's a wicked bitch indeed.
